Volkswagen of America, Inc. has unveiled the all new 2022 Taos, and it is coming into the compact SUV market, where 4 million vehicles were sold in 2019 in the U.S.A alone - around 24% of the market. The Taos is small in stature, but big on value, with bold design, smart packaging, and high-end features.
The Taos bears a bold front end with a sculpted bonnet and a distinctive LED light signature. Top trims feature LED head lights with the Adaptive Front-lighting System, and an illuminated light line stretching outward from the logo.

The Taos is 4.46m long with a wheelbase of 2.68m, while the width is 1.8m and height is 1.6m. It has 795 litres of boot space, which can be increased to 1,877 litres with the second row of seats folded down. The Taos also has generous legroom for passengers, with 101cm of legroom in the front seats and 96cm in the rear.
Inside, the Taos features modern design and a premium fit and finish. The central touchscreen is separated from the climate controls and flows seamlessly into the door inserts, adding visual interest. Two-tone seats are standard - whether upholstered in the base cloth or optional leatherette and leather seating surfaces.

The Taos comes with the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit configurable instrument cluster as standard, with in-car WiFi available as an option. The MIB3 infotainment system with wireless charging and wireless App-Connect for compatible devices is paired with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with voice control, satellite radio and navigation.
A suite of driver assistance technology is available on every Taos model, featuring Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Braking, Active Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Keeping System, and Adaptive Cruise Control. High Beam Control, Adaptive Front-lighting System and Park Distance Control are also available.
The Taos is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 155bhp and 249Nm of torque. Front-wheel drive variants get an eight-speed automatic transmission, while all-wheel drive variants get a seven-speed dual-clutch.
