  • Lamborghini Singapore unveiled the new Huracan STO

Lamborghini Singapore launched the new Huracan STO, the closest thing to the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO and GT3 EVO racecars that you can drive on public roads.

The latest Lamborghini is a brutal racecar for the road, the purest concentration of its motorsports department, Squadra Corse. With inspiration drawn from Lamborghini's Huracan racecars, the Huracan STO delivers exhilarating performance and the ultimate driving pleasure.

Lamborghini Singapore unveiled the Huracan STO for the first time here, at a private preview showcase for the media and its customers on 4 February 2020.

The Huracan STO is the closest street-legal thing to a Huracan GT3 EVO racecar
The Lamborghini Huracan STO - Super Trofeo Omologata - is a road-homologated super sports car inspired by the racing heritage of Lamborghini Squadra Corse's one-make race series with the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO as well as its three-time 24 Hours of Daytona-winning and two-time 12 Hours of Sebring-winning Huracan GT3 EVO.

The collaboration between Lamborghini's R&D, Squadra Corse and Centro Stile departments ensured that every line and every feature on the exterior of the Huracan STO is not only aesthetically outstanding, but also optimised for the best driving performance.

The Cofango merges the bonnet, fenders and front bumper into one lightweight component
The Huracan STO sports an entirely new exterior design to optimise airflow. It achieves the highest level of downforce in its class with the best aero balance for a rear-wheel drive car, enhancing its cornering performance.

Overall airflow efficiency is improved by 37% and a significant downforce increase of 53% is achieved over the Huracan Performante. One of the aerodynamic solutions inspired by Squadra Corse racecars is the Cofango - the front bonnet, fenders and front bumper are comprised of one single component.

Carbon fibre makes up more than 75% of the exterior panels on the Huracan STO
In the weight department, the Huracan STO is 43kg lighter than the already lightweight Huracan Performante. The significant weight savings were achieved with Lamborghini's expertise in lightweight technologies. Carbon fibre is extensively used, making up more than 75% of the total exterior panels.

The Huracan STO also features rear fenders that are constructed with a carbon fibre 'sandwich' technique borrowed from the aerospace industry, allowing even more weight savings while maintaining the same structural integrity. Minute details such as the lightweight windscreen and magnesium rims serve to further reduce the Huracan STO's weight, achieving a dry weight of just 1,339kg.

The extensive use of carbon fibre continues in the cockpit
The lightweight ethos of the exterior carries on to the interior, with extensive use of carbon fibre throughout the cockpit. The pair of sport seats are crafted from carbon fibre, carpets has been removed and replaced with carbon fibre, and the door panels are fully carbon fibre as well.

The rear roll-over bar co-developed with Akrapovic is made from high-grade titanium and is 40% lighter than conventional stainless-steel equivalents.

From the moment, the engine is fired up, every aspect of the Huracan STO, inside and out, stirs the soul of a racing driver.

Equipped with a naturally aspirated V10 engine, the STO lets out a soul-stirring tune
The Huracan STO is powered by the V10 naturally aspirated engine of the Huracan EVO and Super Trofeo, outputting 631bhp and 565Nm of torque. It completes the century sprint in just three seconds and is capable of a top speed of 310km/h.

With an increased wheel track, stiffer suspension bushing, specific anti-roll bars and Lamborghini's MagneRide 2.0, the STO delivers all the emotion of a racecar while providing a comfortable road experience.

It also features three new ANIMA driving modes: STO, Trofeo and Pioggia. The default STO mode is designed for road driving and fun on curvy roads. In Trofeo modes, all systems are optimised for dry asphalt and the fastest lap times on track, while the Pioggia (rain) mode optimises traction control, torque vectoring, rear-wheel steering and ABS on wet asphalt.

Brembo CCM-R brakes offer cutting-edge braking performance with F1-derived technology
The Huracan STO is equipped with Brembo CCM-R brakes, developed with the materials expertise from F1 applications to deliver superior durability. It provides four times higher thermal conductivity than traditional carbon ceramic brakes, 60% higher stress resistance, 25% higher maximum brake power and a 7% increase in longitudinal deceleration. This results in robust braking consistency in all driving conditions.

The Lamborghini Huracan STO is expected to start from $1.3 million. The first customers will take delivery in Q3 2021.
