Volkswagen unveils the new Polo

Volkswagen has unveiled the new Polo.

Standout features for the new supermini include the addition of Volkswagen's IQ.DRIVE Travel driver assistance system, which brings predictive Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist to enable partly automated driving.

Also new for the Polo are LED head lights, LED taillight clusters, and a multifunction steering wheel. Volkswagen's Digital Cockpit, which utilises digital instruments with an 8.0-inch display, also now comes as standard equipment.

Elsewhere in the cabin, the firm's Composition Media audio system with 6.5-inch monitor, a Bluetooth mobile phone interface, exterior mirrors that can be electrically adjusted and heated, and electric windows throughout the vehicle also now come as standard features.

Also new for the Polo is the addition of a new centre airbag. Located on the driver side on the side of the rear seat backrest, this airbag opens toward the centre in the event of an accident, protecting the driver and front passenger.

On the exterior, 'Style' variants of the Polo get a new distinctive front end with chrome-look crossbars, Volkswagen's IQ.LIGHT LED matrix head lights paired with LED fog lights and 15-inch Ronda alloy wheels. Also among the expanded range of features is the Park Distance Control system.

Inside, there are a range of additional details such as the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit, background lighting and the 8.0-inch Infotainment system Ready2Discover, which includes App-Connect Wireless. With Ready2Discover, customers have the option of retrofitting the navigation system as a feature on demand.

An 'R-Line' variant is also being offered, with bumpers that distinguish it from all other Polo versions. At the front, a high-gloss black cross and longitudinal bars of the air intakes and their surround convey a charismatic sense of dynamism.

Here too, IQ.LIGHT LED matrix head lights and LED fog lights are fitted as standard. At the rear, a diffuser, finished in high-gloss black with chrome-look integrated exhaust panels in the lower part of the vehicle rear distinguishes the R-line variant. 16-inch Valencia alloy wheels are fitted on the Polo R-Line as standard. Like the Polo Style, the Polo R-Line comes equipped with the Ready2Discover Infotainment system.
