Porsche's 'Soundtrack My Life' technology creates a dynamic driving experience

The traffic lights turn green, and lively sounds fill the interior of the vehicle - not because the driver has switched on the radio, but because the Porsche is generating music through its movement.

Porsche's 'Soundtrack My Life' technology extends well beyond playing personalised playlists or adjusting the tempo and pitch of existing music to match the car's speed. It aims to deliver an individualised sound experience constructed from a variety of sounds and musical structures during a drive, with both the driver and software playing an equal role in the creative process.

The driver first selects a basic musical mood - a collection of soundtracks composed specifically for a particular driving situation. The software assesses these musical elements and, depending on parameters such as acceleration, speed, and centrifugal forces, changes the complexity of the mix of individual elements, adding and removing tracks as it sees fit.

A prototype of Soundtrack My Life currently exists as a smartphone app. It has not yet been decided whether this will remain the case or if the app's series production version will be assimilated into the on-board Porsche Communication Management system.
