Toyota Motor Corporation's automotive offerings over the coming three decades will feature a wealth of options not limited to just electric vehicles, the company's executives said during its yearly shareholder meeting, held earlier in June.

"It's too early to concentrate on one option," opined Toyota Director Shigeki Terashi, when asked to justify the Japanese automaker's long-term strategy, which differs from that of Honda Motor Corporation's. The latter aims to completely electrify its lineup by 2040.

At the conference, Toyota also reiterated its belief that alternatives to all-electric vehicles, including plug-in hybrids and hydrogen-powered vehicles, would continue to be vital in the coming years.

Instead of focusing purely on all-electric vehicle production, Toyota aims to adopt a more holistic approach in attaining sustainability, Terahashi continued. On top of vehicular emissions, Toyota will take into account the entire lifecycle of an automobile, from pollutants generated during manufacturing to the environmental costs of recycling old cars.
