Built on a brand new platform, the Kia Sportage combines a driver-centric design with an exquisite, premium interior.

Kia has released further details of its upcoming, all new fifth generation Kia Sportage, which has been crafted from the ground up to symbolise the brand's pioneering DNA.

Developed on Kia's brand new N3 platform, the Sportage combines a driver-centric design philosophy with a state-of-the-art premium interior, in which a swooping integrated curved display houses the very latest advancements in connectivity technology.

The side profile of the Kia Sportage incorporates taut lines cutting across clean body surfaces
Paying homage to its sports utility heritage, the side profile of the all new Sportage creates a stirring road presence with taut lines cutting across clean body surfaces, seamlessly representing both elements. As a first for the Sportage range, a contrasting black roof is now available with the new model, accentuating its sporting profile.

The Sportage will also receive striking 17 to 19-inch wheels with a choice of seven different alloy designs and finishes, allowing customers to individually specify their vehicle's appearance.

At the back, the Sportage maintains its strong road presence with a muscular swooping fastback design that flows into the rear lamps. The razor-thin taillights are connected by a slim horizontal design, giving the vehicle a wide visual impression.

The interior of the all new Sportage blends boldness in character, luxurious qualities and innovation in technology, creating a driver-orientated space that is truly state-of-the-art. At the centre of the cabin sits a sculpted integrated curved display with a slim touchscreen pad and detailed air vents. The display sweeps across the front of the interior, giving the cockpit dramatic width and depth.

The 12-inch touchscreen and integrated controller act as the nerve centre for driver and passenger connectivity functions. The instrument cluster is equipped with the latest generation full thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal display for incredibly precise and clear graphics. To keep the Sportage's technology up-to-date and cutting-edge, it will receive frequent over-the-air software and map updates.

The Sportage's interior combines practicality, functionality and versatility. Underpinned by a wheelbase of 2,755mm, a width of 1,865mm, length of 4,660mm and height of 1,660mm, the Sportage boasts class-leading legroom, headroom and luggage capacity. The rear seats fold down at the press of a button, allowing for a flat cargo space to be created seamlessly.

In terms of safety technology, Kia's acclaimed in-house developed Advanced Driver Assistance System technology helps the Sportage to avoid potential hazards. In addition to capabilities such as Forward Collision Avoidance Assist and Blind Spot Assist, notable features include Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, which keeps the all new Sportage at a safe speed on the highway using real-time navigation data, as well as Remote Smart Parking Assist.

Representing a first for Kia is the inclusion of an all new Terrain Mode, which makes its debut on the fifth generation Sportage. It automatically adjusts the Sportage's settings so that the vehicle adapts to the optimal drive dynamic for any given road condition and environment, including snow, mud and sand.

Out of Terrain Mode, the Sportage defaults to Drive Mode, with the driver selecting from Comfort, Eco, Sport or Smart settings. The driver can change from one Drive Mode sub-setting to another effortlessly.

From launch, a 1.6-litre petrol TGDI powertrain will be offered in the Sportage lineup, which generates 177bhp and 264Nm of torque. The redesigned four-cylinder unit attains enhanced fuel efficiency through a new and optimised combustion process, and breakthrough cooling technologies. A new and highly efficient 2.0-litre diesel engine is also available, which incorporates an advanced variable geometry turbocharger.

Kia's advanced N3 vehicle architecture, on which the all new Sportage is based on, encompasses the latest powertrain electrification innovations. The Sportage range will therefore feature eco-friendly hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, which will be announced near the start of sales.
