  • Bentley introduces the new Flying Spur Hybrid

The Flying Spur Hybrid is the most environmentally friendly Bentley to date, proving that hybridisation does not compromise luxury nor performance.

Bentley Motors has announced the details of its latest luxury model to incorporate electrification.

The introduction of the new Flying Spur Hybrid builds on the success of the third generation Flying Spur, incorporating a highly innovative electrified powertrain. The result is the creation of the most environmentally friendly Bentley to date, demonstrating that hybridisation does not compromise luxury nor performance.

Three distinct 'E Modes' allow the driver to manage the Flying Spur's battery usage
The new powertrain combines a 2.9-litre twin scroll turbocharged V6 petrol engine with an advanced electric motor, delivering 536bhp and 750Nm of torque. The new Flying Spur will also become the most efficient Bentley ever, having the capability to cover over 700km when fully fuelled.

With impressive power reserves and superior torque, the Flying Spur Hybrid yields little to its V8-engine twin in acceleration, hitting 100km/h from a standstill in 4.3 seconds. Featuring an additional 95bhp in comparison to the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid, the new powertrain achieves a significant reduction in fuel consumption while still providing the authentic Bentley character of effortless, refined, and dignified performance.

The automatic Start-Stop switch has been replaced with a control for the three 'E Modes' - EV Drive, Hybrid Mode and Hold Mode, allowing the driver to manage the battery usage during a journey. Additional e-motion information is available to the driver via the instrument panel, heads up display and centre screen.

Of note is the Flying Spur's Hybrid Mode, which maximises vehicle range by incorporating data from the vehicle's navigation system. Upon inputting a destination, the car will automatically engage the correct Drive Mode for each part of the journey, constantly calculating the most efficient use of battery charge for each section.

A distinctive 'Hybrid' badge denotes the new Flying Spur Hybrid
The Flying Spur Hybrid has seven Bentley paint colours to choose from as standard, which have been carefully selected to complement the character of the car. Customers can also specify their vehicle from the additional extended paint range of over 60 colours, including Mulliner and personal commission options.

A 'Hybrid' badge mounted on the lower front fender, quad oval tailpipes, and a covered universal charging point denote the new model. The choice of optional wheels includes a 22-inch Mulliner Driving Specification wheel in three different finishes and a 21-inch Polished or Grey Painted wheel. Meticulously machined 20-inch wheels will come as standard on the vehicle, adding to the aesthetic beauty and grace of the exterior.

In terms of technology, the new Flying Spur incorporates a class-leading portfolio of intelligent equipment tailored around the driver and passengers. Connected car services include My Battery Charge, which allows for remote vehicle charging as long as the vehicle is plugged in, and My Cabin Comfort, which automatically adjusts cabin temperature ahead of a journey.
