The iconic Honda Civic has returned to Singapore!
This new 11th generation Civic is built on a sportier, fun-to-drive new chassis, as well as a powerful and fuel-efficient powertrain.
Honda's designers have looked to the timeless design concepts of past Civics in order to craft this new one, and have designed it under the new Honda ethos of 'Man-Maximum, Machine-Minimum' (M/M), where the purpose of technology and design is to serve the needs of the driver and passengers.
The new Honda Civic thus sports clean and sophisticated detailing, coupled with a low overall height and low hip point, which gives the car a low and wide stance. The greenhouse has also been moved rearward on the body, elongating the hood for a more premium side view.
New taillights at the rear emphasise the width and on-road stability of the car, and finish with a playfully upswept yet aerodynamically efficient trailing edge to the trunk lid.
On the inside, the new Honda Civic gets a dramatic interior makeover as it reimagines the clean and uncluttered lines of earlier generations of the Civic, while delivering the essential Civic M/M values of outstanding ergonomics and exceptional visibility.
The front roof pillars have been rearward relative to the driver, to place them further in the periphery of his/her vision, for an unobstructed view outward. The side mirrors have also been relocated to the doors for a clearer view through the front side windows.
The instrument panel here has also been redesigned to minimise visual clutter by reducing cut lines and breaks. As such, the door top and dash line in the Honda Civic have been designed to blend harmoniously. Stretching the width of the dash also is a honeycomb mesh accent, which serves not only as a design element, but also conceals the visually busy air vents.
The car also gets a 7.0-inch all-digital LCD instrument display, a 9.0-inch full-HD Display Audio touchscreen with Android Auto, wireless Apple Carplay and a wireless charger for smartphones.
The 11th generation Honda Civic also introduces multiple new active and passive safety systems, including an upgraded suite of Honda Sensing safety and driver-assistive technologies such as Lead Car Departure Notification System and Auto High Beam features.
The new Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure that underpins this Honda Civic also offers both improved occupant and pedestrian collision protection. Honda states it will also deliver improved driving refinement, ride quality and sporty handling.
The new Honda Civic is equipped with a 127bhp 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Peak torque from this engine is 180Nm. Power is sent to the wheels via a continuously variable transmission.
