  • Acura debuts limited edition NSX Type S at Monterey

New fuel injectors, intercoolers, and turbos help bring the output of the limited edition Acura NSX Type S all the way up to 592bhp.

Acura has revealed its new, 592bhp Acura NSX Type S.

The NSX Type S is the ultimate expression of the brand's commitment to Precision Crafted Performance and firmly establishes Type S as Acura's performance halo.

The NSX Type S gets a wider front and rear track thanks to the increased negative offset from its forged alloy wheels
In celebration of the final year of second generation NSX production, every 2022 Acura NSX produced at the Performance Manufacturing Centre in Marysville, Ohio, U.S.A will be a Type S model.

Just 350 of the limited run supercar will be built for global distribution, with 300 units destined for U.S.A customers, marking the first time an NSX Type S has been sold outside of Japan.

The supercar is instantly recognisable by its distinctive and more aggressive front and rear styling, as well as its unique five-spoke wheels and stickier Pirelli P-Zero tyres. Its Adaptive Damper System has also been retuned. Type S decals, a standard carbon fibre roof and available Gotham Gray matte paint further distinguish the Type S.

Under the optional carbon fibre engine cover is Acura's most powerful production drivetrain ever: An updated version of the supercar’s twin-turbocharged V6 and three-motor hybrid system that produces 592bhp and 667Nm of torque.

The 3.5-litre V6 has new fuel injectors and turbochargers
Hand-built in a special facility at the Anna Engine Plant in Ohio, U.S.A, the supercar's exclusive twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine is enhanced with new fuel injectors (providing a 25% higher flow rate), new intercoolers (capable of dissipating an additional 15% more heat), and new turbochargers shared with the NSX GT3 Evo (delivering a 5.6% increase peak boost pressure).

Additionally, the supercar's Intelligent Power Unit has been tweaked to allow for a 20% higher usable battery capacity, and 10% greater battery output.

The supercar's nine-speed dual-clutch transmission and revolutionary torque-vectoring Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive have also been retuned to maximise performance. An available Lightweight Package includes carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fibre engine cover and carbon fibre interior package, reducing total curb weight by nearly 26kg.

New performance forged alloy split-five spoke wheels are available in Matte Shark Grey or Gloss Berlina Black. Their increased negative offset widen the front and rear track of the NSX Type S by 10mm and 20mm, respectively. This not only improves the supercar's handling but gives it an especially aggressive stance.
