Suzuki has revealed the new S-Cross SUV.
An imposing piano-black grille dominates the view at the front of the car. Finished with a chrome horizontal bar, it is flanked on both sides by LED head lights.
At the rear, the SUV identity of the car is further reinforced by the tall position of the taillights as well as the use of silver trim pieces at the bottom.
In the cabin, the Suzuki S-Cross gets a panoramic sunroof, keeping with the theme of being an outdoor-bound vehicle.
A wide instrument panel sports a three-dimensional design, said to give it a strong, high-quality look, while at the centre of the dashboard rests a 9.0-inch display equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as voice recognition and hands-free Bluetooth calling.
It will also display other driving information including fuel consumption, driving range, the energy flow from the car's mild-hybrid drivetrain, as well as the feed from the rear-view parking camera.
Powering the Suzuki S-Cross is a 1.4-litre direct-injection Boosterjet engine mated to a 48V mild-hybrid system. Variable valve timing, cooled exhaust gas recirculation, and a high compression ratio ensure high efficiency. Output from this engine stands at 127bhp while peak torque stands at 235Nm.
The car is available with all-wheel drive, with customers able to select from four different driving modes (Auto, Sport, Snow and Lock) from a selector in the cabin.
Claimed fuel consumption for the Suzuki S-Cross is 17.2km/L for the model equipped with the six-speed automatic with two-wheel drive. Acceleration to 100km/h from a standstill is quoted as taking 9.5 seconds for two-wheel drive models, while the all-wheel drive variants will take 10.2 seconds to accomplish the same sprint.
The car comes equipped with Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go amongst other safety features.
