  • Off-road ability meet high-performance in the new Ford Raptor Bronco

A twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre, Raptor-specific suspension, alongside numerous redesigned exterior panels make the Ford Bronco Raptor one menacing off-roader.

Ford has revealed its most powerful street-legal Bronco yet: The Ford Bronco Raptor.

The performance vehicle merges the best desert running and boulder crawling ability of the Bronco with the next-level performance of the Raptor sub-brand.

The Ford Bronco Raptor has its suspension developed in collaboration with Fox for unchallenged off-road performance
The Ford Bronco Raptor utilises a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre EcoBoost engine sporting Raptor-specific tuning to deliver upwards of 400bhp. The car is also said to get new intercooling and air-induction systems, designed to endure the higher ambient desert temperatures.

And at the other end of this engine, a dual-exhaust system features, which utilises active-valve technology and near-equal-length pipes for an improved exhaust note.

An advanced 4x4 system with three modes includes a higher-capacity clutch, designed to withstand the demands of high-performance desert events.

The Ford Bronco Raptor also gets a suspension system designed by the Ford Performance team in collaboration with Fox. The system gets what Ford states is a position-sensitive damping design, alongside uniquely tuned semi-active dampers, which utilise data from suspension height sensors to adjust their tuning accordingly.

Twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre engine with Raptor-specific tuning will deliver more than 400bhp
The vehicle also gets heavy-duty bash and skid plates which provide continuous driveline coverage from the front bumper to the back of the engine, transmission and transfer case. B-pillar cross bar and C-pillar reinforcement also help deliver a greater than 50% total body-in-prime torsional rigidity increase over a standard Bronco four-door.

The front and rear axles have also been upgraded for increased durability, alongside an increased track width for even more sure-footed confidence. Larger front and rear driveshafts also support increased wheel torque. Finally, the Bronco Raptor also runs with a minimum ground clearance of 332mm, 121mm more than a base four-door model.

On the outside, the Ford Bornco Raptor gets the familiar Ford block lettering at the front, stretching across the signature two-piece rectangular grille.

These are surrounded by model-specific LED head lights featuring amber daytime running lamps and integrated amber marker lamps, a Raptor tradition that delivers a menacing look. The car also gets heavy-duty modular steel front bumper by Ford Performance equipped with tow hooks, removable bumper end caps for improved off-road clearance, integrated removable Rigid LED fog lamps and Rigid off-road lamps for greater illumination.

A redesigned hood, sporting a more muscular shape graces the Ford Bronco Raptor, while the front and rear quarter-panels, fenders, fender flares and doors are also unique to the Bronco Raptor.
