BMW Asia, Performance Motors Limited, and Performance Munich Autos have launched the new 2 Series Active Tourer alongside the 2 Series Coupe here in Singapore at the Singapore Wine Vault.

The two cars may share a common number within their names but sit on the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to the customers they attract, with the 2 Series Active Tourer serving as a conquest model, designed to win over new shoppers of the BMW brand with its combination of functionality mixed together with a high list of standard equipment and of course, that BMW sporting flare when it comes to the drive.

And as for the 2 Series Coupe, well, the drift machine continues to appeal most to the long-term BMW aficionado, thanks to its compact body and high performance alongside a guaranteed high level of dynamic ability.

Let's head over to the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer first. As you'd expect of a car designed to win new shoppers over to the BMW brand, the compact MPV has been designed with an appealing exterior. At the front, the head lights are now slimmer than its predecessor, while the grille has also grown larger, for increased presence on the road.

Further adding to this presence from the flank are the flush-fitting door handles alongside the raked A-pillars. Look from the rear, and you'll sport broad shoulders that work with the now-hidden tailpipes for just that right mix of muscularity and sleekness expected of a premium product.

But, the real story of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer begins in the cabin. Here, you'll find new multi-adjustable seats, designed to offer high comfort even over long journeys, a rear bench that can slide for and aft by as much as 130mm, and a boot capacity of 470 litres before you fold those seats down, all designed to deliver high levels of practicality for those everyday journeys.

Snatch the front two seats before driving off and you'll also be able to play with BMW's latest Operating System 8 in the 2 Series Active Tourer, displayed through a curved display that integrates the 10.25-inch information display with the 10.7-inch control display within one housing.

Equipped with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, as well as the My Modes integrated vehicle settings and interior experience, the new operating system is sure to make every drive in the 2 Series Active Tourer an impressive one.

But let's say you're not really looking for something that will ferry your passengers in comfort. Perhaps you're looking more for a sporty road carver? Well, if that's the case then you'll definitely want to take a look at the new BMW 2 Series Coupe.

The performance coupe arrives here available with either a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine as the M240i xDrive Coupe, or the 2.0-litre 220i Coupe. The six-cylinder variant comes equipped with an engine that produces a peak of 369bhp, alongside maximum torque of 500Nm, enough to see the car completing the century sprint in just 4.3 seconds.

The 220i four-cylinder, meanwhile, posts a respectable 181bhp alongside 300Nm of peak torque, enough to see the compact model sprint from zero to 100km/h in just 7.5 seconds.

Whichever engine you opt for, there will be plenty of visual aggression to go about thanks to the coupe's combination of body creases, flared wheel arches, and of course, that unavoidable power dome atop the bonnet.

And of course, sublime BMW handling is promised on the 2 Series Coupe, with both cars sporting a two-joint spring strut suspension design at the front, and a five-link system at the rear.

Opt for the flagship six-cylinder model and you'll also get the M Sport braking system, M Sport differential at the rear, and adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers for that added touch of confidence and ability through the corners.

The cars are also differentiated in the cabin with the 220i Coupe getting seats upholstered in Sensatec perforated upholstery while M240i xDrive Coupe has seats that wear Vernasca leather.

Both variants of the BMW 2 Series Coupe however, will feature the BMW Live Cockpit Professional as standard.

This combines a 12.3-inch instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch control display, here sporting BMW's Operating System 7.
