  • Audi RS Q e-tron scores victory at Abu Dhabi Rally

The all-electric drivetrain has secured its first overall victory at the Abu Dhabi Rally, following its four stage victories in the Dakar Rally.

The Audi RS Q e-tron has clinched its first victory in the Abu Dhabi Rally, following from its four stage victories in the Dakar Rally in January.

Driver Stephane Peterhansel and Co-driver Edouard Boulanger brought the car to the finish line with an advantage that exceeded 29 minutes in Abu Dhabi, making this the eighth time Peterhansel accepted a winner's trophy at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. The two led the desert rally continuously from the first stage after a flawless drive.

Soaring temperatures of up to 40 degress Celsius in the shade challenged the team and vehicle, but the unique electric drivetrain continued to work reliably. The rally also differed significantly from the Dakar Rally in terms of geology, with long and unpredictable dune passages characterising the five stages with a total length of more than 1,800km. "It wasn't easy to find the right rhythm on the sometimes very treacherous broken dunes," reported Stephane Peterhansel on the geology of the rally.

Following the historic first success of the Audi RS Q e-tron, Team Audi Sport is pushing ahead with the development of the prototype in preparation for the Andalucia Rally come 6 June 2022. A qualifying stage and five legs of 200km to 300km each await the participants in the south of Spain in the middle of the year.
