  • MyTransport.SG app can now be used to locate electric car charging points

Users of the MyTransport.SG app can now search from up to 800 public charging points at over 200 locations across the island.

Drive an electric car and find locating charging spots a hassle?

Your woes could soon be a thing of the past with the new ability to search from over 800 public charging points at 200 different locations, all via the MyTransport.SG mobile app, which the LTA states, will be implemented by today.

You will also be able to see the plug type and power rating of the chargers, all within the MyTransport.SG app
The app will also display charging rates, the power rating of the chargers, as well as the plug type, so users will be able to easier plan their charging schedules. Users will also be able to filter out and search for charging points of their preference, while automatic redirection to the respective charging operators' apps for payment or to Google Maps for navigation will also be offered.

The LTA states that more features, including real-time charging point availability will be available with subsequent updates of the MyTransport.SG mobile app.

Alongside this announcement, the LTA has also revealed that it will be launching a large-scale tender in April which will cover the addition of charging options across nearly 2,000 HDB carparks.

This tender will see an additional 12,000 charging points by 2025. It will come in 10 packages, each sized to cover approximately the same number of carparks, and will see each carpark within the tender getting between three to six charging points, with the option to scale the number of chargers up to 12 during a concession period.

The LTA states that tenderers for the project will be assessed based on how they plan to offer affordable, reliable and sustainable charging services, as well as to maximise deployment in carparks with limited electrical capacity.

But perhaps the most interesting point for current and future owners of electric vehicles, is the fact that they will also be assessed on their plans to trial and implement innovative solutions to deter the hogging of charging lots.
