  • BMW 7 Series luxury limousine makes its debut

BMW has revealed the new 7 Series limousine. Have they opted for a muted approach? Or something radical like the iX and M3? Well...

BMW has revealed the new 7 Series and all-electric i7 luxury limousine, ready to do battle against the likes of the recently facelifted Audi A8 and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class or the EQS.

You'll undoubtedly already have noticed the car's new split head light design, which also now graces the BMW X7 SUV, as well as the large front grille which, as if there's any chance you could miss them, now have their contours illuminated, as on the XM Concept unveiled a while back.

You'll be able to keep up with all your favourite dramas from a 13.3-inch Theater Screen in the back of the BMW 7 Series
From the flank, the BMW 7 Series has gone all monolithic, with flush-fitting door handles, a slab-sided body, tall shoulder lines, and those sizable rear doors, all the better to let passengers in and out of the vehicle.

Opt for all electric propulsion and you'll also be able to get your 7 complete with BMW i Blue accents.

Step inside and, as with all the latest BMWs, this new 7 Series also now comes with the firm's Operating System 8, here housed within a curved display. This new display unit merges together a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch infotainment control display.

There's also a new Interaction Bar here, made out of touch sensitive panels which can be used to make adjustments to the air-conditioning, activate the hazard lights, or open the glove compartment. This bar, mind, will also provide effective backlighting, displayed through a crystalline surface structure.

The crystalline strip you see running across the dashboard houses touch sensitive panels from which you can adjust the air-conditioning
But at the rear is where things truly get a little wild, for BMW has gone ahead and installed the Theater Screen we first saw at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show into this new 7 Series.

This screen is 31.3-inch 8K touchscreen display that merges with a Bowers and Wilkins surround sound system for a truly immersive theater experience. And as for your content, Amazon's Fire TV is already built-in into the system.

Multifunction seats here, complete with active seat ventilation and massage functions are also available here to add to your comfort. All seats can also be had in this 7 Series upholstered in a new leather/Cashmere combination, for those looking for something properly plush.

The new BMW 7 Series is being launched with the 760i xDrive powered by a 4.4-litre V8. This unit produces 537bhp and 750Nm of torque, allowing your luxury limousine to crack the century sprint in just 4.2 seconds.

Two plug-in hybrid models for the BMW 7 Series will also be launched come early 2023
The 740i and 735i meanwhile, will utilise 3.0-litre six-cylinder engines. These engines will develop 375bhp and 282bhp respectively. All 7 Series offered with internal combustion engines will also come with mild hybrid technology.

Those looking to get their hands on the all-electric i7 meanwhile, will be able to opt for the BMW i7 xDrive60. This model comes equipped with a total of 537bhp alongside 745Nm of torque, allowing it to reach 100km/h from a standstill in just 4.7 seconds. Range for this model comes in at 625km according to the WLTP cycle.

Two plug-in hybrid models will also be launched come 2023. These include the BMW 750e xDrive, which offers a system combined peak of 483bhp and 89km electric-only range. The second plug-in hybrid model, the M760e xDrive, will offer a peak of 563bhp and peak torque of 800Nm, alongside an electric-only range of 84km.

Expect the BMW 7 Series and i7 to arrive in Singapore in the later months of 2022.
