The launch of the BMW 216i Gran Coupe here in Singapore means shoppers now have a stylish new Cat A COE-friendly option to consider.

Looking for a car that delivers big on style but is still friendly on the wallet? You'll be pleased to note that BMW Asia and Performance Motors Limited have now launched the Cat A COE-friendly BMW 216i Gran Coupe here in Singapore.

The new model variant joins the 218i and the M235i in the 2 Series Gran Coupe lineup here in Singapore, and also joins the BMW 116i as one of the only two BMW models to duck under the 130bhp limit for eligibility for registration under the Cat A COE.

The BMW 216i Gran Coupe comes with 17-inch light alloy wheels
Powering this BMW 216i Gran Coupe is a 1.5-litre engine, coupled to a seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission. Delivering a total of 108bhp, the 216i Gran Coupe will complete the zero to 100km/h sprint in 10.8 seconds.

A peak torque of 190Nm meanwhile, is offered by this engine from 1,380rpm to 3,800rpm, which should ensure easy driving even on our island's busy roads.

And speaking of driving on our busy roads, BMW states that this 216i Gran Coupe will also deliver a fuel economy of 18.2km/L, so you can look forward to less frequent visits to the pumps. A low CO2 emissions figure of only 125g/km also contributes to the car qualifying for a $15,000 rebate under the VES scheme, so there's plenty of savings all round from this premium car.

A 10.25-inch instrument cluster pairs with a simillarly sized infotainment touchscreen in the cabin
The BMW 216i Gran Coupe is offered in the Sport Line here in Singapore, which means you'll find plenty of design elements wrapped in Sensatec leather when you step into the cabin.

Other luxurious touches offered within the BMW 216i Gran Coupe include electrically-adjustable sports seats at the front, and a sport leather steering wheel, while the window frame surround and C-pillars here are finished in high-gloss black. The interior ambient lighting in this four-door coupe meanwhile, will offer a choice of six different colours.

As with all BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe models, the BMW 216i Gran Coupe is fitted with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional system as standard. So, you get two 10.25-inch screens in cabin, with the centrally mounted and touch-sensitive Control Display angled towards the driver in customary BMW fashion.

1.5-litre engine here offers up 108bhp and a total of 190Nm of torque from 1,380rpm
The BMW 216i Gran Coupe also comes with the Driving Assistant package fitted as standard, which comprises of the Lane Change Warning system, which prompts the driver to guide the car back onto the correct lane by means of a visual warning and, if necessary, a steering input.

The package also comes with BMW's route-ahead assistant, as well as the rear collision warning and crossing traffic warning systems.

BMW's Parking Assistant and Reversing Assistant also come standard with the BMW 216i Gran Coupe.
