Tesla Singapore has officially launched the Model Y all-electric SUV here in Singapore, just one month after we first noticed that orders were open on its website for Singaporean customers.
The launch also marks the firm's first public showcase of the Model Y here on our sunny island, with the car being open for the public to view at the central atrium of ION Orchard, located at 2 Orchard Turn, until 24 July 2022.
Tesla Singapore states that first deliveries of the Model Y will commence from August 2022.
The all-electric SUV is available here in two variants, with the standard Model Y equipped with rear-wheel drive developing 295bhp and a WLTP range of 455km. This model will complete the zero to 100km/h sprint in just 6.9 seconds.
The more performance-oriented Model Y Performance meanwhile, sports a dual-motor system for all-wheel drive, offers a WLTP range of 514km, and develops a total of 527bhp, allowing the zero to 100km/h sprint to be completed in just 3.7 seconds.
This Performance model will also wear larger 21-inch Uberturbine rims, and will come with a lowered suspension, performance brakes, and a carbon fibre spoiler at the rear.
All Model Ys headed for Singapore will come with an all-glass roof, Tesla's Autopilot system, as well as a HEPA air filtration system. The model is currently offered in Singapore solely as a five-seater.
Nonetheless, Tesla Singapore is keen to point out that the Model Y is catered to those looking for hassle-free electric vehicle ownership, with the vehicle offering a total of 2,158 litres of cargo space with its seats folded.
Further aiding this practical push is the fact that charging the Model Y here in Singapore is catered for by its growing network of vehicle chargers on our island. Currently, a total of 24 of Tesla's V3 Superchargers are on offer across eight separate locations.
A 15-inch touchscreen display, docking for two smartphones, and a 13-speaker audio system are but some of the highlights in the cabin These chargers, Tesla states, can deliver charging speeds of up to 250kW, allowing you to top up your Model Y Performance with an additional 120km in just five minutes.
The standard Model Y is being offered with a four-year or 80,000km warranty, whichever comes first, while the warranty for its battery and drive unit reaches up to eight years or 160,000km, whichever comes first.
Meanwhile, the Model Y Performance is being offered with a four-year or 80,000km warranty, whichever comes first, while the warranty for its battery and drive unit reaches up to eight years or 192,000km, whichever comes first.
