Acura has announced its very first fully electric SUV, the ZDX, which will be coming to market in 2024. The brand will also launch the Type S variant, essential to the brand's motto of commitment to performance.

The ZDX will be co-developed with GM, utilising the highly flexible global EV platform powered by Ultium batteries. The new car will also be Acura's first zero emissions SUV and pay homage to a previous Acura model of the same name.

CEO of Honda global Toshiro Mibe has outlined the company's vision for global sales of electrified vehicles as part of Honda's strategy to achieve carbon neutrality for its products by 2050. This will call for 100% of the company's North American sales to be battery electric and fuel cell electric vehicles by 2040.
