The Audi R8 V10 performance RWD has arrived in Singapore. Audi states that the car's RWD system is derived from their LMS GT4 racer and that the car will now come with an extra 30bhp and 10Nm of torque.
The R8 sprints from zero to 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 329km/h. The engine utilised in this Audi R8 is the familiar naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 FSI engine which has roots as a sonorous Lamborghini engine. The engine is mated to a seven-speed S-tronic transmission.
Expect the new R8 V10 performance RWD to come with a more focused driving feel A mechanical limited-slip differential distributes the drive torque to match the driving situation, ensuring that the car has optimum traction, even on wet roads. As with all R8s, its body is built out of aluminium and carbon fibre-reinforced plastic in the Audi Space Frame design. This means that the R8 only weighs 1,590kg.
Audi claims that the electromechanical power steering will provide a feeling of direct contact with the road surface. The dynamic steering system, available for the first time for the rear-wheel-drive R8, also offers even more precise response and feedback.
It enhances driving dynamics by providing more direct steering response, for example on winding country roads or when turning. It also enhances driving comfort thanks to reduced steering effort, for example when parking and manoeuvring.
The R8's V10 now produces 30bhp and 10Nm more torque The RWD sports suspension is specially adapted to the rear-wheel drive and features double wishbones and a passive differential lock. The axle load distribution is 40:60. Lightweight 20-inch cast aluminium wheels ensure that the sports car handles precisely and stays on track during fast cornering manoeuvres.
The new R8 is available in a total of 10 colours. This includes Ascari Blue Metallic, a colour previously reserved for the R8 V10 performance quattro.
