Hilton & Moss, specialists in the restoration and sales of classic vehicles, have revealed a restored 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster.
Like its iconic 300SL 'Gullwing' coupe sister, the elegant 300SL Roadster found its origins in sportscar racing with the W194.
The 300SL has been restored to concours standards under the care of Hilton & Moss The genesis of the 300SL legend began with this legendary racing machine, earning a string of remarkable victories in its first season of competition.
Despite previous accident damage and extensive corrosion in the vehicle's underbody, the Hilton & Moss team leveraged their extensive knowledge of heritage Mercedes-Benz models to transform the vehicle to a concours-standard.
Following a full strip-down of the vehicle, the team then set about repairing the original panels to the precise factory specification, with extensively corroded panels replaced with genuine Mercedes-Benz parts flown in from Germany.
New leather has been fitted to the metal dashboard frame For the interior, Hilton & Moss' trimming team prepared new leather to seamlessly fit the metal dashboard frame, mitigating cracking issues and futureproofing it for decades to come.
Mirroring the meticulous restoration of the vehicle's structure and interior, its mechanical components were also subjected to a complete overhaul, with every element of the 3.0-litre straight six powerplant stripped down and refurbished to as-new condition.
