  • Parkopedia helps BMW drivers to make in-vehicle parking payments with ease

The new Parkopedia service which is available in BMW vehicles running Operating System 7 and 8, allows drivers to pay parking with ease in Germany and Austria.

A new BMW parking payment feature, which utilises Parkopedia's in-vehicle payment platform to enable a seamless parking payment is now available in Germany and Austria. The feature will be available to owners of BMW vehicles equipped with Operating System 7 and 8.

The service allows drivers to conveniently find and pay for parking from the comfort of their vehicles, via their infotainment systems or the My BMW App.

Drivers in Germany and Austria do not need to take any action to activate the function as it will be activated overnight via an over-the-air update
The function is activated overnight over-the-air, with no action required by the driver. Once the driver arrives at the chosen parking location, Parkopedia's integrated payment platform allows for interaction between payable locations and vehicle sensors, prompting the vehicle to automatically display the payment function and suggest for the driver to pay at applicable locations.

The BMW Parking Payments service also offers Single Sign-On capabilities that allow the driver to log in with their BMW ConnectedDrive account or BMW ID, and activate the Park Payments service only once.

Payment methods can be entered and saved using the associated QR code displayed on the infotainment screen. Parkopedia's Single Sign-On technology is able to save time for drivers, as it removes additional enforcement of authentication at the point of purchase. This is part of the movement towards frictionless mobility which aims to deliver even more convenience for drivers.
