The next Kangoo will be produced at the Maubeuge Carrosserie Automobile factory in northern France, with the fully-electric version rolling off the line alongside the standard petrol and diesel versions. The Kangoo is the third model from Renault’s Zero Emissions concepts to be confirmed for production, following the Zoe and the Twizy.

The new Kangoo will be based on the Kangoo Be Bop and Kangoo ZE concepts unveiled at previous motor shows, and could have a 95bhp electric motor with 266Nm of torque. A lithium-ion battery could be used, which provides a range of up to 160km on a full charge.

Renault says that the new Kangoo ZE light commercial vehicle is meant as an urban vehicle for professionals, and will leverage its expertise and buying power gathered for the current Kangoo to ensure that the new Kangoo electric vehicle is up to standard.
