The LTA revealed the COE supply for the upcoming quarter stretching from February 2023 to April 2023.
The total average monthly quota across all COE categories for the upcoming quarter will stand at 3,144. This is an increase from the current average monthly quota of 3,040. This new supply comes as the LTA has once again readjusted its method for computing the available COE quota, so that the number of COEs available for bidding in each quarter will be the rolling average of the number of vehicles deregistered over the previous four quarters. The LTA states that without this new adjustment, the average monthly quota for February 2023 to April 2023 would have been 2,898.
The COE supply for Cat A cars (up to 1,600cc and 130bhp, or electric cars up to 110kW) in the coming quarter will hit a monthly average of 1,010, up from the average of this quarter of 915.
The average monthly COE supply for Cat B (above 1,600cc or 130bhp, and electric cars with more than 110km) meanwhile, will also see an increase, averaging 860, from the current average of 817.
The COE supply for Cat E, however, is set to drop to a monthly average of 259 from the 291 of the current quarter. COEs in this category can be used for any vehicle type except motorcycles but end up almost exclusively for bigger cars.
