Hertz and Uber have announced an European expansion to their successful North American partnership through which Hertz will make up to 25,000 electric vehicles available to Uber drivers in European capital cities by 2025.

This announcement comes nearly a year after Hertz declared that it would purchase up to 65,000 vehicles from Polestar as it sought to convert is electric rental fleet into one of the largest in the world.

This latest collaboration, however, will see a wide range of electric vehicles being offered to Uber drivers, including vehicles from Tesla and Polestar.

Hertz states that this move is part of its plan to become a zero-emissions platform in Europe and North America by 2030. It additionally states that to date, nearly 50,000 drivers have rented a Tesla through this programme, completing more than 24 million fully-electric trips and over 418 million electric kilometres.

The European expansion of the partnership will begin in Hertz Europe's London base in January 2023 and aims to expand to other European capitals, such as Paris and Amsterdam, throughout the year and beyond.
