GMC has announced that the first production unit of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 SUV has gone to the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction, raising a total of $656,700 for charity.

The full proceeds of the sale will go towards Tread Lightly!, a non-profit dedicated to promoting outdoor recreation through stewardship and educational programme, as Barrett-Jackson waived the fees and commissions typically associated with its collector vehicle auctions.

The finds raised from the auction will help promote outdoor ethics and a sense of good stewardship in nature
The organisation seeks to balance the needs of those who enjoy outdoor recreation with the need to maintain healthy ecosystems and thriving populations of wildlife across the U.S.A.

Funds from the first retail unit of the GMC Hummer EV SUV will be used to support its conservation mission as well as promote outdoor ethics and a sense of good stewardship in nature.

With a nearly 22.8cm shorter wheelbase than the Hummer EV Pickup, the Hummer EV SUV has greater departure and breakover angles and a tighter turning circle of 10.8m when equipped with all-wheel steering.

GMC states that reservations of Hummer EV Edition 1 SUV are currently full. Initial production will begins in early 2023 at GM's Factory Zero Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly - a nearly 40-year old facility repurposed and retooled for electric vehicle production.
