Official Kia agent Cycle & Carriage has signed an agreement to supply Premier Taxis with 700 units of the all new Niro Plus Hybrid over the next year.

Multi-brand distributor Cycle & Carriage has inked a deal with Premier Taxis to begin supplying the cab company with the all new Kia Niro Plus Hybrid.

Premier Taxis says it chose the Niro Plus Hybrid because it fulfilled the requirements for a safe, modern, spacious, and fuel-efficient model that could be offered to its drivers. The crossover has a combined consumption figure of 18.9km/L.

Cycle & Carriage's Director for Multi-franchise Operations, Ms. Dawn Pan (left), signs the agreement with Ms. Loh Peng Ling, Managing Director of Premier Corporation
The Niro Plus Hybrid is specifically built to withstand the rigours of commercial usage. The crossover is 10mm longer than the regular Niro, but more importantly, is 80mm taller as well. The increased height results in even more headroom for rear passengers.

Other key features include wide-opening doors for easier ingress and egress. Complementing this are the large handles mounted on the B-pillars, which could come in handy for occupants with mobility issues.

For passenger comfort, the Niro Plus Hybrid has a flat rear floor and rear air-con vents on the centre console.

Ms. Dawn Pan, Director of Multi-franchise Operations, Cycle & Carriage Singapore, said, "The Niro Plus Hybrid is Kia's first 'purpose-built vehicle', made for fleet operators to fulfil modern-day business demands, which often can be a mixed bag of delivery and logistics services and people-mover purposes, including ride-hailing."

Wide-opening doors and a flat rear floor enhance access and comfort
Mr. Teo Kian Meng, Managing Director of Premier Taxis, added, "The Kia Niro Hybrid Plus is not only built to be the ideal taxi, it fits perfectly with our goals to deliver the highest levels of customer service."

Occupant safety is also one of the Niro Hybrid Plus' strengths.

Its standard list of safety features includes Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep System and Lane Following Assist.

The latter two should come in handy during long stints behind the wheel. Also enhancing the driver's convenience is Smart Cruise Control.

Handles mounted on the B-pillars may come in handy for occupants with mobility issues
When activated, it automatically adjusts the car's distance to the vehicle in front of it, based on the set speed. This helps lessen the strain on the driver as well.

The agreement between Cycle & Carriage and Premier Taxis will see the former supply 700 units of the Niro Plus Hybrid to the latter over the next year.

Premier Taxis has utilised Kia models in the past. Previously, the firm's fleet included the diesel-powered Magentis and Optima saloons.
