The Rolls-Royce Spectre is set to head into a final lifestyle testing phase as it passes the two million kilometre mark of its global testing programme.

Rolls-Royce has announced that the Spectre has completed the third phase its testing programme.

The car is said to have already completed close to two million kilometres as part of this development programme, the most rigorous in the marque's 118-year history.

Rolls-Royce engineers are finessing the anti-roll stabilisation system of the Spectre on the curving roads of South Africa
The Rolls-Royce Spectre is now undergoing extreme hot weather testing at two locations in South Africa. The climate of the nation offers dry and extremely hot conditions in the north, where temperatures can soar up to 50 degrees Celsius.

At its south however, the conditions become more cool and humid, but offer a great variety of twisting country roads replete with gravel, dust and dirt.

The marque's engineers are now working on refining every system of the Rolls-Royce Spectre, which is said to include up to 25,000 separate performance-related functions, all of which have been tailored to offer a quintessentially Rolls-Royce experience.

A total of 1,500 hours has already been poured into the car's regenerative braking, for example, to ensure that they feel effortless but present. The system has also been finessed to ensure that the delivered braking force does not compromise the overall serenity of Spectre under any driving conditions.

The twisting country roads, replete with gravel, dust and dirt, also offered the ideal conditions to test the car's various systems
In the same fashion, the car's anti-roll stabilisation is also being tuned on the roads of South Africa to reflect the dynamic promise of Spectre's dramatic coupe body, while still delivering on the marque's hallmark 'Magic Carpet Ride'.

Once this hot weather testing is complete, the Rolls-Royce Spectre will head off to its final ratification phase, which will comprise of a programme of all-season testing, with return visits to the Arctic extremes of Arjeplog and the more temperate conditions of the Cote d'Azur.

Said to comprise the final 20% of the Spectre's testing regimen, this final phase will see a final 500,000km added to the testing of the regime of the car, and will see it being put in super luxury situations and use-cases specific to Rolls-Royce clients.

Rolls-Royce states that this final testing will ensure the car performs as required, whether clients take it across the world's megacities, as well as around the world's historical and luxury destinations.
