Volkswagen has revealed its refreshed Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport.
At the front, both cars now feature the standard Adaptive Front-lighting System, and on all but the base trim models, will now get Daytime Running Lights that continue into an illuminated lightbar that sits atop of an illuminated VW logo, adding to the premium look of the SUV.
The lower element of the front of the Atlas Cross Sport has been redesigned to better distinguish it from the regular Atlas The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport also now gets gloss-black grille details and a gloss-black 'X'-shaped design element on its lower fascia, visually linking it to the Volkswagen Taos.
At the rear, both models also now get a larger spoiler, lengthening the overall roofline of the vehicles and giving them a sleeker side profile. All examples of the Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport except the base trims also now get an illuminated lightbar at the rear, and an illuminated 'VW' logo.
Here, the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport also gets a more aggressive rear diffuser to further differentiate it from the Atlas.
In the cabin, both models have been upgraded so features including a heater steering wheel, ventilated front seats and a height-adjustable passenger seat are now standard. The Atlas and Atlass Cross Sport also now gets the firm's Climatronic automatic climate control and Voice Control systems as standard.
The infotainment screen and centre console of the Atlas family has also been redesigned And situated below the air-conditioning controls is a redesigned centre console, which now gets a storage cubby.
The Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport comes with a 12-inch infotainment display, alongside the 10.25-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro instrument cluster. A total of six USB-C ports are offered as standard in both cars, offering 45W fast charging.
Both the Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport also now get the firm's ID.DRIVE driver assistance features as standard. Here, the system will offer lane centering and a capacitive steering wheel to make driving easier. IQ.DRIVE will also alert the driver to surprise obstacles in front of the vehicle, making driving around town safer.
The Volkswagen Atlas family is now powered solely by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. That means that the V6 unit available before will no longer be available with this facelifted Atlas. However, this four-cylinder will come close enough to the output of the former V6, with total of 265bhp and 370Nm of torque on offer. This engine will come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard, although Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel drive system will be available as an option.
