Mercedes-Benz has been working closely with the world of fashion as of late.
In April last year, for example, it revealed the Mercedes‑Maybach S‑Class by Virgil Abloh, a special edition car commemorating the late Polymath and Fashion Designer.
The section of the artpiece that comprises the G-class has been given a rough finish to highlight its functionality Then in May 2022, it unveiled a new collaborative effort with American Musician will.i.am, which led to the creation of this will.i.AMG, an AMG GT 4-Door Coupe with a thoroughly reworked exterior.
But this latest creation could be Mercedes' wildest creation yet. It's called the Project Mondo G, and its a collaborative effort between Mercedes-Benz and fashion firm Moncler.
As you might have figured from the pictures, the artwork combines the Mercedes G-Class with the Moncler puffer jacket, with its soft, flowing quilted textile contrasting against the angular design of the G-Class.
The more observant will also notice the Project Mondo G features a roughened patina on the G-Class, serving as a further contrast against the high-gloss and reflective surfaces that form the puffer jacket section of the artwork.
Mercedes states that the zipper at the top of the artwork has been added as a reference to the versatility and variability of both products, vehicle and jacket. Finally, the snowy, low-gravity backdrop is also said to highlight the shared themes of outdoor durability and opportunity for limitless discovery that both the jacket and the vehicle embody.
The Project Mondo G has made its premier as the central art piece at the Moncler The Art of Genius show at the London Fashion Week, and will feature as the hero showcar of a marketing campaign titled Art of Imagination, that will make its way through the social media accounts of both Moncler and Mercedes-Benz around the world.
