Seat's Martorell site is kicking off its journey to manufacture electric vehicles as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Seat is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its Martorell site as it begins its transformation into the electric age.

Seat's main factory will begin production of fully electric vehicles by 2025 for different brands within the Volkswagen Group.

Both Seat and the Volkswagen Group will additionally contribute to the electrification of Spain with the Future: Fast Forward project. The plan will see the electrification of the firm's Martorell and Pamplona factories, the construction of a new gigafactory for batteries in Sagunto, Valencia, and the creation of a complete supplier ecosystem. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the Spanish economy of close to $30 million.

Seat has also already begun an ambitious training plan for its employees, with the aim of achieving a more efficient organisation and helping every team through these changes. Close to 12,000 people work in the factory and at the headquarters of Martorell. The plant has a total surface area of 2.8 million square metres, which is equivalent to 400 football pitches.
