The Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre (HMIGCS) in Singapore, which assembles the Ioniq 5, has announced that Alpesh Patel, former Aerodynamicist at Ferrari and Technology Lead at McKinsey's Digital Capability Centre Asia Pacific, has joined as its Vice President and Head of the HMGICS Technology Innovation Group.
HMGICS plans to build an intelligent manufacturing platform that will utilise Industry 4.0 technologies including robotics, AI, a Digital Twin and the Metaverse. Alpesh will also play a key role in realising HMGICS's Smart Factory vision, and the setting up of its Meta Factory.
The firm states that it is currently establishing a 3D virtual factory as its first step towards establishing the real-time synchronisation of the virtual and physical factory. It is targeting to achieve a fully cloud-based operation via a Meta-Factory in 2025 as its final goal.
