Subaru announces its AAAS/Subaru Prize for Excellence in Science Books winners

Subaru of America, Inc., and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world's largest general scientific society and publisher of the Science family of journals, have announced the 2023 winners of the AAAS/Subaru Prize for Excellence in Science Books.
The awards are said to celebrate outstanding science writing and illustration for children and young adults. A total of four titles are being honoured this year, with titles ranging in subject from dinosaurs to digestion. The prize-winning books for 2023 are: Fox: A Circle of Life Story, It Takes Guts: How Your Body Turns Food Into Fuel (and Poop), Funky Fungi: 30 Activities for Exploring Molds, Mushrooms, Lichens, and More, as well as The Last Days of the Dinosaurs: An Asteroid, Extinction, and the Beginning of Our World.
Subaru of America and AAAS have partnered since 2005 to encourage writing and publishing of high-quality science books for young readers. Both organisations intend to foster an interest and appreciation of science and technology as well as engineering and mathematics amongst the next generation of scientists. The AAAS/Subaru Prize for Excellence in Science Books has now honoured a total of 72 books and more than 100 Authors and Illustrators.
Winning authors and illustrators will each receive $2,017 (USD $1,500) and a commemorative plaque and will be recognised at the 2023 AAAS Annual Meeting, held from 2 to 5 March in Washington, D.C.
