Honda is all set to reveal the capabilities of its latest generation Autonomous Work Vehicle (AWV) at CONEXPO construction trade show at Las Vegas come 14 March 2023.
The event will give interested construction entities the opportunity to learn more about how the rugged off-road platform will perform on their worksites, nearly two years after the vehicles were first revealed undergoing testing in New Mexico, U.S.A, where they proved to be capable of working collaboratively to deliver construction materials along a pre-set route.
The Honda AWV is able to carry up to two pallets on its bed, and can operate at speeds of up to 16km/h in autonomous mode The fully programmable all-electric Honda AWV makes use of Honda's advanced autonomous technology to create a rugged off-road work vehicle that is designed to support construction-related activities.
The ability to operate autonomously or manually via remote control will allow the Honda AWV to offer a wide range of services to industries that need autonomous operation or delivery solutions.
Honda is currently exploring the development of attachments and tools that could make the vehicle a suitable platform for many work environments.
The Honda AWV is said to now be able to carry up to two pallets on its bed, and now also sports improved navigation even when access to its global navigation satellite system service is weak or unavailable, thanks to the use of LiDAR sensors.
The operating speed of the vehicle in autonomous mode has also been raised to 16km/h, and a larger battery size now gives it an operating time of up to 10 hours.
