Audi Singapore has announced that its Audi Service Centre located at 55 Ubi Road 1 will remain closed until further notice following an unidentified blast that left one person injured. News of the explosion first broke in the early afternoon of Tuesday, 7 March 2023, with the SCDF confirming in a Facebook post that it had been alerted at 8:55am about the incident.
Upon arriving, it observed that a part of the wall at the side of the building had collapsed, while a small fire had been put out using fire extinguishers by members of the public. Around 100 people had already been evacuated from the site beforehand, while the injured individual was sent to Raffles Hospital.
A news report by The Straits Times states that the impact of the blast was so strong that it was felt in neighbouring buildings, where boxes fell over in one particular office.
The cause of the explosion is still unclear, and Audi Singapore says that it is working with the relevant authorities on investigations, with additional updates to be provided along the way.
As the Audi Service Centre at Ubi remains closed to the public until further notice, local Audi drivers may continue to head to its alternative site at 281 Alexandra Road to get their cars serviced.
