Porsche Classic is now offering magnesium crankcases from the factory for the classic 911 models built between 1968 and 1976.
The firm states that this reissue is available for the F and F series cars with 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, and 2.7-litre engines, including the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 that inspired the 911 Sport Classic we saw here in Singapore in February 2023.
The reissue of these magnesium crankcases means owners of the vehicles no longer need to resort to welding cracks if one is found in their classic vehicles, or to resort to using second-hand parts from other engines.
Porsche states that the new parts are manufactured via sand casting, before being milled to exact specifications on a five-axis CNC machine. The new crankcase is also manufactured accordance with the strict Porsche Classic quality specifications and has undergone a strict test programme that included endurance runs alongside careful inspection of the various component parts thereafter.
The new crankcases are available to order as original parts from any Porsche Classic partner or from Porsche Centres worldwide.
