The new BMW 5 Series is set to get a host of all-electric, plug-in hybrid, and mild hybrid drivetrains, as well as an all-electric performance variant.

BMW has revealed an early teaser of the new, eighth generation 5 Series Sedan.

Not much has been revealed from the picture, other than the fact that the car looks set to get a light signature that features vertical elements, so its front is likely to sport a different design at the front from the 7 Series, with its slim and horizontal twin head light design.

BMW has additionally announced that this new 5 Series will also get its latest Operating System 8.5, which will come complete with a new zero-layer operating layout, which places all relevant functions and information on a single level, making it possible to select a desired function without having to enter a submenu first.

This new BMW 5 Series will also be offered with a choice of all-electric and plug-in hybrid as well as mild hybrid variants. Enthusiaists will also be pleased to note that the car is also set to get a fully electric performance variant from BMW M GmbH, following from the BMW i4 M50. A BMW i5 Touring will additionally make its debut come 2024.
