Audi has now opened its third charging hub in Berlin.
This hub follows from the ones in Nuremberg and Zurich, and continues to make use of second-life batteries which only charge when the neighboring town of Frischeparadies requires little power. This smart dynamic load is governed by a control system developed in-house by Audi, allowing efficient use of existing power infrastructure.
These batteries also continue to come from dismantled Audi test vehicles, and allow the charging station to offer sustainable quick-charging, even at times of the day when the local power grid would struggle operate four high-power charging points that offer up to 320kW of charge.
This technology, Audi states, will allow the hub and the town of Frischeparadies to share a power from a shared line in the future.
