A 2.0-litre VTEC turbocharged engine is mated to a six-speed manual and a high-flow exhaust system in this Acura Integra Type S.

Acura has revealed the full details of the new Integra Type S.

Set to make its debut at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, the Acura Integra Type S comes with a full 316bhp alongside a peak torque output of 420Nm, courtesy of a high-revving turbocharged 2.0-litre VTEC engine.

The Integra Type S gets three large centre-mounted exhaust outlets at the rear, said to be a first for Acura
This engine is fed by a new high-flow exhaust system, said to be exclusive to the Integra Type S. At the rear, meanwhile, a less restrictive straight-through exhaust design is adopted, here delivering to the Integra a Type S-exclusive exhaust note.

Acura additionally promises a 'show stopping' degree of pops and bangs from this exhaust once the car is set into its 'Sport+' driving mode.

The car's 2.0-litre engine comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission, which promises a precise and short throw, while a helical-type limited-slip differential will ensure all the power is put to the road effectively.

Speaking of which, the car will also come with the handling chops to match.

Turbocharged 2.0-litre engine comes with direct injection and a unique throttle tuning for quick throttle response
Up front, the 19-inch, 10-spoke, NSX Type S-inspired wheels come wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S high-performance tyres and sit ahead of 13.8-inch two-piece front rotors and Brembo four-piston monobloc aluminium calipers.

These wheels are also supported by what is described by Acura as a dual-axis front suspension design, said to reduce torque steer. And the car also gets an adaptive damper system, with distinct damping characteristics for the selected driving modes.

On the exterior, every body panel ahead of the A-pillar of the Acura Integra Type S is said to be unique to the car.

The Integra Type S will get a steering wheel wrapped in perforated leather as well as a Type S-specific shifter knob
Here, a large Diamond Pentagon grille sits, alongside a new vented aluminium hood to bring added cool air to that engine and its intercooler. These, alongside flared wide body fenders, give the car its muscular stance and planted road presence. Oh, and the embossed 'Integra' text continues to feature just below the front and rear lights.

At the rear, the car gets a redesigned rear fascia, complete with three large centre-mounted exhaust outlets, a first for a Type S model.

The Acura Integra Type S will come with a 10.2-inch Acura Precision Cockpit Driver Information Interface and a 9.0-inch colour infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

A 16-speaker 530W ELS Studio 3D premium audio system will also feature in the cabin, alongside Sports seats with perforated Ultrasuede inserts and a Type S-specific shifter knob which comes topped with a racy red shift pattern.
