The thundery showers which happened across the island yesterday have caused trees to fall, causing serious damage to cars in various incidents. The most severe took place at a car park in Eunos Avenue 3, where the fallen tree damaged four cars. One of them, a Mercedes-Benz, suffered a crushed engine.
In Tampines, the windscreen and roof of a car was also damaged by a falling tree. Likewise, a car parked along Jalan Seaview suffered a similar fate when a tree fell onto it.
The North East monsoon has brought strong wind and heavy downpours to the island in the first few weeks of the New Year. Thundery showers are expected to continue in the late afternoon and evening for the rest of January.
