First images and details for the new Citroen C4 Picasso have been released by the French automaker - with the MPV to be officially launched in summer. The MPV stands out with a bolder design featuring a split head lamp architecture that is reminiscent of the new Jeep Cherokee, hi-tech headlights and LED 3D effect rear lights. The new C4 has trimmed its weight by 140kg while the body is slicker with a drag value of just 0.71.
The new C4 Picasso is based a new PSA platform dubbed the EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform 2), which features a compact exterior that measures 4,430mm long, sits 1,830mm wide and stands 1,610mm tall.
Despite its compact dimensions, the C4 offers a spacious interior - which Citroen claims to benchmark in its segment - and a record boot capacity at 537 litres that expands to 630 litres with the rear seats pushed forward.
The front fascia features a revised chevron design which extends out to the narrow LED daytime-running lights. Right below, the headlamp clusters flank the radiator grille while a 'C' shape signature finished in chrome adds personality to the profile of the MPV.
In the cabin, the new C4 offers a panoramic windscreen conjoined to a large glass roof which floods the interior in natural light. An exclusive Lounge Pack offers front massage seats, a front 'Relax' seat that allows the front passenger to stretch out their legs and a Relax headrest on all seats for comforting neck support.
The full digital driving interface is structured around two screens. The standard 7-inch touchpad features seven touch-sensitive buttons for ancillary control functions like air conditioning, navigation, audio, etc.
On the other hand, the larger 12-inch panoramic HD screen displays essential driving information and can be personalised to the driver's needs to show data for either the navigation system or driving aids.
On top of the standard usual slew of amenities offered nowadays, the new C4 offers 360 Vision - an exclusive feature that utilises four cameras around the car - to give drivers an expanded view and park assist that provides automatic assistance when manoeuvring in reverse.
The new C4 Picasso will emit just 98g/km of CO2 thanks to the e-HDi 90 Airdream engine when mated to the new six-speed clutchless gearbox. That combo returns a fuel economy rating of 31.4km/L - a record in the class. The popular e-HDi 115 engine pollutes slightly more at 104g/km CO2 or 105g/km CO2 when paired to the manual transmission for a fuel economy rating of 29.7km/L.
The C4 is also the first from the marque to be available with a BlueHDi engine that meets the Euro 6 standards. The BlueHDi 150 emits just 110g/km of CO2 and features an SCR module (selective catalytic reduction).
