Hypercar maker Bugatti has revealed that it will dedicate the Legend - a special run edition model based on the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse - to six iconic figures in the marque's long running history.

The first of six to receive the honour is Jean-Pierre Wimille - the man who has driven Bugatti to a two-time win at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1937 and 1939.
The Bugatti Legend "Jean-Pierre Wimille" took strong inspirations from the 1937 winning car - the blue 57G Tank - and will be finished in blue clear-coated carbon fibre and a light Wimille Bleu paintwork.
As Chief Designer of Bugatti, Achim Anscheidt, explained," The materials and colours selected, as well as a host of details, all reference the essential characteristics of the classic models driven by those figures to whom our edition pays homage. In each case, this care has resulted in vehicles in which the authenticity of the past is combined with the modern design, the sportive superlative and the luxurious comfort of Bugatti as an icon of the present. With these Bugatti Legends we are giving history a modern makeover."
The first Legend will be produced with a limited run of only three units, and will make its public debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on 18th August.
