British Royal Mail celebrates automotive legends
27 Aug 2013|3,516 views
The British Royal Mail is celebrating the occasion of Aston Martin's centenary anniversary, together with the 150th birthday of Sir Henry Royce, with a special philatelic collection of six automotive legends. The six-stamp collection will feature the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and Aston Martin DB5, as well as the Jaguar E-Type, Morgan Plus 8, Lotus Esprit and MG MGB roadster.
You may have realised that all six cars are 'coincidentally' from British marques. And the Royal Mail has also decided to do it in a more 'royally' fashion - seeking the expertise of veteran automotive photographer Andrew Mann to capture images of these icons, instead of using stock pictures.
A rough 2.5 million copies of the collection will be made available in the U.K. via phone, online and at any of the 10,000 post offices in the country. Local fans worry not - there is a high chance that some of these will make it to auction websites.
