Ford's lineup of EcoBoost engines have been in the limelight on various occasions. Now, the marque aims to bring its technologically advanced engine in 3.5-litre V6 guise to the racetrack, in particular the 2014 24 Hours of Daytona.
Although this is not the first time Ford is participating in the Daytona Prototype class as an engine supplier, the new program will no doubt spark generous interest for the marque.
In addition, the prototype car will also sport a new look with cues from Ford production cars, and with help from Ford Racing Chief Aerodynamicist Bernie Marcus.
The first team to field the EcoBoost engine is Micheal Shank Racing. With Colin Braun at the wheel, he will attempt a record run speed test at the Daytona International Speedway on 9th October.
