Much like BMW's marketing strategy with the 3 Series and 4 Series, the newly minted 2 Series name plate, will follow the 4 and 6 Series to represent the Coupe and Cabriolet body styles of the F20 1 Series Hatchback.

While it is not confirmed, we presume a 2 Series Gran Coupe model could also be in the works to go head on with the all new CLA-Class and the A3 Sedan - the first sedan for the A3 nameplate. Whatever the case, BMW has teased the internet community of the arrival of the 2 Series with a short video that previews its performance capabilities.
