  • Lamborghini unveils the successor to the Gallardo nameplate

    23 Dec 2013

Lamborghini has not only presented the successor to the Gallardo, but is also redefining the benchmark for luxury super sports cars in this segment.

With its pure and unique design, the all new Huracan sports car looks like a love child between the Sesto Elemento and the mighty Aventador. The Italian firm believes that the Huracan offers an innovative technology package, outstanding dynamics and excellent quality - to offer a super sports car experience on a whole new level.

Like most Lamborghinis, the name is derived from the world of bullfighting. The fighting bull, Huracan, of the Spanish Conte de la Patilla breed was known for his outstanding courage, and strong sense of attack.

The new Huracan is pure in its lines - as top level craftsmanship meet an audacious design with sharp edges, monolithic and sculptured volumes and precise surfaces. By night, the Huracan is unmistakably a Lamborghini with the main headlamps equipped with full LED illumination.

The interior is dominated by a configurable 12.3-inch colour TFT instrument panel, which delivers all car information to the driver.

Fine Nappa leather and Alcantara distinguish the interior, with several colour combinations offered to ensure broad individualisation options. The design of the dashboard and central tunnel underline a new lightness in the interior.

Systematic lightweight design and Lamborghini's extensive expertise in carbon fibre come together in the Huracan's new hybrid chassis  - an integrated structure of carbon and aluminium elements. With a dry weight slightly north of 1.4 tonnes, it enables not only an excellent power-to-weight ratio of 2.33kg/bhp, but also guarantees race car precision with outstanding stiffness.

At its heart is a new, 5.2-litre V10 engine that delivers 610bhp and a maximum torque of 560Nm for a top speed of over 325km/h after a century sprint charge in 3.2 seconds. The power is transferred to the tarmac via a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission 'Lamborghini Doppia Frizione' (LDF) and fully electronically controlled four-wheel drive system. Stopping performance is taken care of by the carbon ceramic brakes.

In comparison to the Gallardo, the Huracan delivers more power and torque despite lower fuel consumption and emissions. The Stop & Start technology aids the combined EU consumption figure - rated at 12.5L/100km while emitting 290g/km of CO2.
