As BMW's most powerful full-production car yet, the XM's electric motor and twin-turbo V8 combine for a maximum output of a whopping 644bhp and 800Nm of torque.
BMW has announced that it has started production of the XM in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where the X5, X6 and X7 are built.
The BMW XM will come with a plug-in hybrid system which comprises a V8 petrol engine mated to a powerful electric motor.
The BMW Concept XM will be the first vehicle to sport a newly developed M Hybrid drive system with a 750bhp 4.4-litre V8 and a high-performance electric motor.
