Audi Q7 gets a more efficient diesel engine

The new engine has less power but promises to be more efficient than the outgoing 3.0-litre powerplant. The new 3.0 TDI engine produces 201bhp and 450Nm of torque, which is a reduction of 36bhp and 100Nm over the previous unit.

The new 3.0 TDI engine allows the Q7 to go from 0-100km/h in 9.1 seconds, and reach a top speed of 205km/h. Audi has also fitted the Q7 with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an engine start/stop system.

As a result of the improvements, fuel consumption for the Q7 3.0 TDI is now only 7.2 litres per 100km, and CO2 emissions are now 189 g/km, the lowest in its segment. The Q7 is also lavishly equipped, with options such as climate-controlled comfort seats, a panoramic sunroof, and an advanced infotainment system all available.
