  • COE Results August 2026 1st Bidding: Cat A falls again!

    05 Aug 2026

The first COE bidding session for August 2026 sees premiums for Cat A and C slipping, while Cat B and E rises. Get the full numbers here!

    CATPremiumChangeQuotaNo. of bids
    A$123,890▼ $2,110 1,2261,522
    B$129,910▲ $20
    9261,316
    C$91,545▼ $2,344315465
    E$131,000▲ $1,029 254443

This marks the second COE bidding session in a row that has seen premiums for Cat A dropping since it hit an all-time high in the first bidding session of July 2026.

This may be due to the relative uncertainty in the market as of now, with a recent announcement stating that the LTA may consider merging both Cat A and B COEs in the future. That does not seem to have put off Cat B and E buyers though, with both premiums rising. The former may have been because of a larger quota this bidding session as compared to the last (926 versus 871).

Cat A COE - Dropping again

Premiums for Cat A, for cars up to 1,600cc in engine capacity and with an output of no more than 130bhp, or electric vehicles with a power output of up to 110kW, slipped this session by $2,110 (1.7%) to reach $123,890.

This latest slip means the current premium now stands at 7.9% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of bids submitted exceeded the available quota for this round by 24%, way lower than the 12-month average of 55% for the category.

    Cat B COE - A paltry increase

Premiums for Cat B, for larger cars with more than 130bhp or engine displacements larger than 1,600cc, or electric vehicles with a power output of more than 110kW, have slightly risen this session. Premiums rose by $20 (0.02%) this session to reach $129,910.

This rather meagre increase means the current premium for the category is now 5.2% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of bids submitted exceeded the available quota for this round by 42%, lower than the 12-month average of 49% for the category.

Cat C COE - Falling again

Premiums for Cat C, for goods vehicles and buses, fell this session by $2,344 (2.5%) to close at $91,545. The total number of bids submitted exceeded the available quota for this round by 48%, lower than the 12-month average of 53% for the category.

Cat E COE - Rising again

Premiums for Cat E, the open category, climbed this session. This session saw premiums for the category climbing by $1,029 (0.8%), bringing the final premium for the category to $131,000.

This latest climb means the current premium for the category is now 4.6% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of bids submitted exceeded the available quota for this round by 74%, lower than the 12-month average of 84% for the category.
