  • Infiniti confirms lineup expansion with 2015 entry-level model

Infiniti has announced their product expansion plans with the confirmation of an entry-level model set for 2015 launch. The model will also be built in-house.

It has been awhile since we heard from Infiniti and so it was a good sight when Infiniti announced details of their upcoming entry-level models.

Set to gear into production in 2015, the compact premium vehicle will be built in-house at a factory in Europe. The car was initially expected to be built by Magna Steyr but Infiniti eventually decided against it, citing reasons that using a third party manufacturer did not go in line with their overall product expansion plans.

The model is expected to borrow its styling cues from the Etherea concept which was showcased in Geneva last year. It will likely ride on the MFA platform which currently underpins the Mercedes A- and B-Class. Engine options were not specified by the automaker, but there are reports suggesting that the model could feature four and six-cylinder engines from Mercedes.
