LEVC has built the first prototype of its all-electric L380 MPV. The MPV is the first of what it describes will be an entire range of innovative and spacious all-electric models designed to accelerate its transition from a taxi manufacturer to a leading provider of e-mobility solutions.
Production of the LEVC L380 is set to start at a new facility located in Yiwu, China. The plant is said to have been repurposed so it stands ready to meet the requirements of future manufacturing and to enable it to adopt an agile and intelligent approach to production. This Chinese site will sit alongside the firm's current factory in Coventry, U.K.
The new L380 is the first model to be built atop the Space Oriented Architecture, described as a state-of-the-art electric platform that was co-developed with the Geely Holding Group. The platform will also be used to broaden the firm's vehicle lineup, and promises to offer advances in vehicle range, efficiency, safety, charging time, durability, and connectivity.
The L380 will initially launch in China and is set to arrive in the U.K. within the next two years. LEVC states it will reveal more details of the new MPV in the coming weeks.
